How SceneF makes money

When you tap Tickets you go to the theater’s or its ticketer’s own box office. Some of those links pay SceneF a small commission — your price never changes, and what appears on the board, and where, is never for sale.

What the money cannot reach

The board is built before any payout is known. A screening appears because a theater is showing it and the showtime survived verification; it is ordered by time and distance and what you asked for. No commission moves a house up, adds a screening, or keeps one off. A theater that pays nothing — most of them — is listed exactly like one that does, in the same row, in the same typeface, with the same twice-daily check.

The same goes for verification. A house whose links earn a commission is checked on the same schedule, graded by the same rings, and its misses are published in the same record as everyone else’s. The verification pages are at /accuracy and /status, and they publish failures as readily as passes.

Who pays, and for what

Commissions are paid through affiliate networks, and each one is named here before its first link ships. Today that is Impact, which handles the Ticketmaster program. When a ticket link runs through one of them, the network adds an identifier that lets it attribute a sale to SceneF. That identifier says nothing about you: there is no name, no email, no account, no visitor ID and no profile here to attach to it, which is the same reason /privacy is as short as it is.

Most ticket links pay nothing at all. A theater’s own box office is preferred wherever the theater sells its own tickets, and those links earn SceneF nothing — the ticketer only appears where the house has no bookable page of its own.

Why say it here

Because a listing you cannot trust is worth less than no listing, and the fastest way to lose that is to be paid quietly. The commission is small, it is disclosed in the chrome next to the links themselves, and it is the only money SceneF takes: no advertising, no sponsored rows, no fee from readers, and nothing from theaters for being listed or for being listed higher.
