The numbers

People buy tickets here. So do their agents.

Every showtime on this site carries a direct door to the box office, and every crossing is counted. These figures update live from the same ledger the paper runs on — counting since 2026-08-04.

2,432

verified ticket clicks handed to San Francisco box offices

304

17%

15

theaters receiving readers, from the Metreon to the Balboa

The clicks are door-crossings, not sales — the till belongs to the theater. What makes them worth counting is what stands behind them: 1,958 showtimes across 263 films, refreshed twice daily from each theater’s own box office and re-checked by an automated verification system whose running record is public at /accuracy.

The agent share is the part nobody else can show. This site is built to be read by machines as carefully as by people — a documented feed, an MCP server, and schema on every page — so when someone asks their assistant what’s playing tonight in San Francisco, the assistant comes here, and the reader lands at a real box office two taps later.

Theaters: the per-venue version of this ledger — what we sent you, week by week — is yours for the asking: info@scenef.com.

Methodology: a click is counted once per crossing through this site’s ticket door, classified by user agent; our own checks are filtered out. Aggregates only — per-venue figures are shared with that venue alone.
